I ALWAYS PASSED BY THE WINDOW GOING TO WORK AT SAK'S

The opening scene of the film "Breakfast At Tiffany's is one of the most memorable scenes I saw as a teenager in the Philippines. I was mesmerized at the sight of a beautiful street, lined by imposing buildings and impressive stores, it was like a fantasy set in a film studio lot. As a newly arrived immigrant in the 90's, never in my wildest dream that I will actually pass by this street called 5th Avenue all the time working at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. The Tiffany's store front will always be a place where dreams shine and life sparkles like a fairy dust looking at the displays as you pass by, in awe, enchanted, mesmerized...

THE GOLDEN CHAIN GOWN: A FASHION FILM BY WATUS SOLIS

THE ACTUAL VIDEO HAS NO SOUND!

"The Golden Chain Gown" is the first fashion film of designer Watus Solis. Using only the most basic of shots, editing and non-use of music background, it features the creation of a gown from the dress form to the human body. From New York, this gown was brought to the Philippines for the actual photo and video shoots. Shot in the boondocks of Rosario, La Union, the film was conceived to have an amateur home video feel to it to convey the transformation of a couture gown made by the hands of a fashion designer from single pieces of fabrics into a haute couture creation of art. I hope this film encourages everyone that anybody can do anything out of nothing...

A WATERFALL ON FIFTH AVENUE NYC

In an intersection just a building away from Fifth Avenue in New York City is a beautiful refuge of calm and serenity, a man-made cascading waterfalls nestled in between two impressive buildings.  I always pass by this place every time I happen to wander by the avenue, resting on one of those white metal chairs facing the falls, taking deep relaxing breaths, just listening to the gurgling water sounds. Once in a while, I could see birds perched on the branches and a pair of pigeons nestling by a window.  I love this refreshing space, it is my "little Philippines" in the heart of New York City.
